Released in 1982, Call Of The West is the landmark debut full-length by Los Angeles new wave band Wall Of Voodoo, and one of the defining records of the early 1980s American post-punk scene. Fronted by the distinctive voice of Stan Ridgway, the album blends stark synth textures, cinematic Americana, and wiry guitar into an utterly unique sound. The centrepiece is the haunting "Mexican Radio," one of the era's most recognisable new wave anthems, alongside the brooding "Tomorrow" and the tense "Lost Weekend."
