Originally released in 1972, Rio Grande Mud is ZZ Top's second album and a further step into the raw Texas blues-rock territory staked out on their debut. Billy Gibbons' guitar tone is already fully formed, and the record moves with a loose, swampy authority that would come to define the band's early sound. "Francene" became their first charting single, while tracks like "Just Got Back From Baby's" and "Bar-B-Q" showcase the trio at their most unvarnished. This EU Warner Bros. reissue is a solid, playable copy of an underrated early classic.
