Following the orchestral grandeur of The Lexicon Of Love, ABC took a bold turn with Beauty Stab (1983) - stripping back the strings in favour of a harder, guitar-driven rock sound. Produced by Gary Langan, the album divided critics at the time but has since gained a devoted following for its raw energy and Martin Fry's sharp lyricism.
