Agwaya is the 1982 debut album by Orchestra Makassy, a Tanzanian band that recorded in Nairobi and released internationally through Virgin Records. Produced by Martin Hannett, it blends East African guitar melodies with Swahili vocals - a rare and fascinating meeting of Afropop and UK label reach. A genuine world music gem from the early 1980s.
