Released in 1987, the Pet Shop Boys' cover of "Always On My Mind" - originally made famous by Elvis Presley and Willie Nelson - became one of the most celebrated reinventions in pop history. Their sleek, euphoric synth-pop interpretation reached number one in the UK and topped charts across Europe, transforming the classic ballad into a dancefloor anthem. Released to coincide with an Elvis tribute TV special, it remains one of the duo's signature recordings.
