Description

Depeche Mode – Construction Time Again is the band’s third studio album and the first with Alan Wilder, who wrote two of its songs. It was released by Mute on 22 August 1983 (in Germany as INT 146.807); recorded at The Garden in London and mixed at Hansa Studios in West Berlin, it was produced by Daniel Miller and Depeche Mode with Gareth Jones as engineer. The band leaned heavily on samples and found sounds for the first time, using a Synclavier and an Emulator among others. “Everything Counts” reached number 6 in the UK; the album peaked at number 6 in the UK and number 7 in Germany. This copy is a 1983 German original pressing with the original inner sleeve.

FAQ

Is this the original pressing?
Yes. This is a German pressing from the release year 1983 with catalogue number INT 146.807 and the original inner sleeve.

What changed with this album?
Alan Wilder brought a trained musician into the band, and Depeche Mode worked consistently with samples of everyday and metallic sounds for the first time. The lyrics also became more political, for example on “Everything Counts” and “Two Minute Warning”.

What does Media NM- / Cover VG+, sticker rip-off, shelf wear mean?
For the record: NM- (Near Mint minus) means close to new, with at most minimal signs of use. For the sleeve, VG+ stands for light wear – details are listed under Condition above. All grades are explained on our Vinyl Grading page.

Do you have more Depeche Mode records?
Yes, from the same era for example Everything Counts And Live Tracks (12", 1983) and Get The Balance Right! (12", red), plus the follow-up Some Great Reward (grey vinyl). More in our Synth-Pop collection.
