Description

Stomu Yamash'ta's East Wind – One By One is Japanese percussionist Stomu Yamash'ta's music for the documentary One By One about the dangers of Formula One racing (directed by Claude Du Boc; reissued in 1978 as The Quick And The Dead). The LP was released in 1974 on Island Records (cat. no. ILPS 9269), recorded at Olympic and Island Studios in London. With his band East Wind, including Hugh Hopper, Gary Boyle and Brian Gascoigne, Yamash'ta combines jazz-rock, funk and synthesizer sounds; titles such as Nurburgring and Accident refer directly to the film. This copy is the 1974 UK original pressing.

FAQ

Is this the original pressing?
Yes. This is the 1974 UK first edition on Island, catalogue number ILPS 9269.

Is One By One a soundtrack?
Yes. The record contains the music for the documentary One By One about Grand Prix racing. Some pieces run together as medleys; Seasons is an arrangement after Antonio Vivaldi.

What does Media NM- / Cover VG+ mean?
NM- (Near Mint minus) means the record is close to new with at most minimal signs of play. VG+ (Very Good Plus) for the sleeve means light wear, here some corner wear. All grades are explained on our Vinyl Grading page.

Do you have more Stomu Yamashta records?
Yes, for example Stomu Yamash'ta's East Wind – Freedom Is Frightening, Stomu Yamashta's Go – Go Too and Yamashta – Raindog. More titles are in our Jazz-Rock collection.
