Recorded in 1979 and released in 1980 on the Italian Soul Note label, Don't Lose Control is one of the finest documents of the George Adams & Don Pullen Quartet — a group that stood at the crossroads of hard bop, free jazz, and blues. With Cameron Brown on bass and Dannie Richmond on drums, the quartet delivers a raw, emotionally charged performance that showcases both Adams' fierce tenor saxophone and Pullen's percussive, avant-garde piano style. An essential record for serious jazz collectors.
