Description

Larry Coryell – Standing Ovation - Solo is a solo album by guitarist Larry Coryell, released in 1978 on Mood Records (cat. no. 22888) and sold in Germany exclusively through Zweitausendeins. It was recorded and mixed March 8–11, 1978 at Tonstudio Zuckerfabrik in Stuttgart, produced by Coryell himself. Coryell plays six- and twelve-string Ovation acoustic guitars and, on "Piano Improvisation", a Steinway grand piano. Besides his own pieces such as "Ravel" and "Wonderful Wolfgang" there is "Spiritual Dance" by L. Subramaniam. This copy is the 1978 German original pressing with original inner sleeve.

FAQ

Is this the original pressing?
Yes. This is the 1978 German first edition on Mood Records (22888), which at the time was only available through Zweitausendeins. Later editions include a 1980 US release on Arista Novus.

Does Coryell play electric guitar here?
No. The album is fully acoustic: Coryell plays six- and twelve-string Ovation guitars, plus piano on one track.

What does Media NM- / Cover VG+ mean?
NM- (Near Mint minus) for the record means close to new with at most minimal signs of use. VG+ (Very Good Plus) for the sleeve means light wear. All grades are explained on our Vinyl Grading page.

Do you have more Larry Coryell records?
Yes, for example Larry Coryell – Spaces, Larry Coryell / Philip Catherine – Twin-House, Larry Coryell with John Scofield and Joe Beck – Tributaries. More titles are in our Jazz collection.
