Description

Monty Alexander – Solo is a solo album by Jamaican jazz pianist Monty Alexander, first released in 1980 on the German label Jeton as a direct-to-disc recording; it was recorded at Tonstudio Bauer with engineer Carlos Albrecht. The programme mixes originals such as "Song For Susan" and "Mango Song" with standards, Oscar Pettiford's "Tricotism", Stanley Myers' "Cavatina" and the Caribbean traditional "Yellow Bird". This copy is the limited, remastered 2003 reissue from the "Audiophile Legends" series on 180g vinyl with gatefold sleeve and original inner sleeve.

FAQ

Is this the original pressing?
No. The first edition came out on Jeton in 1980. This record is the limited, remastered 2003 reissue on 180g vinyl.

What does direct-to-disc mean?
In a direct-to-disc recording the studio performance is cut straight onto the lacquer, with no tape in between. Each side therefore has to be played in one flawless take.

What does Media NM- / Cover VG+ mean?
NM- (Near Mint minus) means the record is close to new with at most minimal signs of play. VG+ (Very Good Plus) means light signs of wear that hardly affect playback or overall appearance. All grades are explained on our Vinyl Grading page.

Do you have more Monty Alexander records?
At the moment this is our only Monty Alexander title. More piano jazz is in our Jazz collection.
