Description

The Doors – The Doors is the debut album by the Los Angeles band, released in January 1967 on Elektra. It was recorded in 1966 at Sunset Sound Recorders in Los Angeles, produced by Paul A. Rothchild with engineer Bruce Botnick. The album pairs Jim Morrison's lyrics with Ray Manzarek's organ; "Light My Fire" became the band's first US number-one hit in 1967. This copy is the 2009 European reissue on 180g vinyl (Elektra 8122-79865-0) with the original stereo mix.

FAQ

Is this the original pressing?
No. The original was released in 1967. This record is the 2009 European Rhino reissue on 180g vinyl. An older German pressing is available as The Doors – The Doors (DE Elektra 1971).

Is it mono or stereo?
Stereo. The 2009 reissue uses the original stereo mix; the lacquers were cut at Bernie Grundman Mastering under the supervision of Bruce Botnick.

What does 180g mean?
The record is heavier than a standard pressing (usually 120 to 140g). That makes it sturdier and less prone to warping; the sound depends mainly on the mastering and the pressing.

Do you have more Doors records?
Yes, for example The Doors – Strange Days, The Doors – Waiting For The Sun and The Doors – Absolutely Live. More titles are in our Psychedelic Rock collection.
