FAQ

Is this the original pressing?
No. Smoke Stack was first released by Blue Note in 1966. This copy is, per our listing, a US stereo repress with New York labels.

Why are there two bassists on the album?
Hill used Richard Davis and Eddie Khan at the same time. The two basses alternate between accompaniment and counter-lines, giving the pieces a dense, unusual texture.

What does Media NM- / Cover VG+ mean?
NM- (Near Mint minus) means the record is close to new; there is a tiny sticker on the label. VG+ (Very Good Plus) means the sleeve shows light wear, here at corners and edges. All grades are explained on our Vinyl Grading page.

Do you have more Andrew Hill records?
Yes, for example Andrew Hill – Point Of Departure. More titles are in our Jazz collection.
