Released in 1980 on Vertigo, Periscope Life marks a pivotal moment in Kayak's evolution, as the Dutch prog veterans embraced a more polished, radio-friendly sound without abandoning their melodic sophistication. The album blends accessible pop rock hooks with the band's trademark keyboard-driven arrangements, making it one of their most commercially oriented yet musically refined releases. A fine example of late-70s/early-80s European prog transitioning into the new decade.
