The Kachamba Brothers' Band - Cicewa Malawi 1972 (Vinyl LP | AU Original)

The Kachamba Brothers' Band – Cicewa Malawi 1972 is an LP of recordings by the band of brothers Daniel (1947–1987) and Donald Kachamba (1953–2001) from Malawi, released in 1972 on the Austrian label Acta Ethnologica Et Linguistica (cat. no. 0120031). The accompanying text was written by Vienna-based ethnomusicologist Gerhard Kubik, who researched and published on the Kachambas' music. FAQ

What does Cicewa mean?
Cicewa, usually spelled Chichewa, is the language of the Chewa people and the most widely spoken language in Malawi. Most song titles on the record are in this language.

Is this the original pressing?
Yes, it is the 1972 Austrian original edition on Acta Ethnologica Et Linguistica, a small academic label that released in small numbers.

What does Media VG+ / Cover VG+ mean?
VG+ (Very Good Plus) means light wear; a record may have faint surface noise that hardly affects playback. That applies to both record and sleeve here. All grades are explained on our Vinyl Grading page.

Do you have more records by The Kachamba Brothers' Band?
