Description

George Adams/Don Pullen Quartet – City Gates is an album by the quartet of tenor saxophonist George Adams and pianist Don Pullen, released in 1984 on the Dutch label Timeless (cat. no. SJP 181). It was recorded on March 27 and 28, 1983 at Studio 44 in Monster, Netherlands, and produced by Wim Wigt. With Cameron Brown on bass and Dannie Richmond on drums, the band plays two pieces by Adams, two by Pullen and a spiritual; "Mingus Metamorphosis" nods to the time Adams, Pullen and Richmond spent with Charles Mingus. This copy is the 1984 Dutch original pressing.
