Released in 1986, Kicking Against The Pricks is Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds' fourth studio album and their first covers record - a dark, brooding journey through blues, country, and gospel standards filtered through Cave's singular gothic vision. Featuring interpretations of songs by Gene Pitney, Johnny Cash, and John Lee Hooker among others, the album is a masterclass in atmosphere and intensity. Standout tracks include "Muddy Water", "The Singer", and "By The Time I Get To Phoenix". This German Original on Mute is a highly collectible pressing.
