Sonny Okosun - Sonny Okosun (Vinyl LP | UK Reissue)

Sonny Okosun – Sonny Okosun is an album by Nigerian singer and bandleader Sonny Okosun (1947–2008) with his band Ozziddi. It was first released in 1978 in Nigeria on EMI as Fire In Soweto, and the same year in France on Pathé as Sonny Okosun. The title song “Fire In Soweto”, an indictment of apartheid in South Africa, became a big hit and made Okosun known internationally. His style blends Afrobeat and highlife with reggae, and the four long tracks are all about liberation and protest. This copy is a UK reissue on OTI, licensed from EMI Nigeria.
