Description

Art Ensemble Of Chicago – Nice Guys is the first album by the Art Ensemble Of Chicago on ECM (cat. no. ECM 1126). It was recorded in May 1978 at Tonstudio Bauer in Ludwigsburg, produced by Manfred Eicher, and released in 1979. Every member contributes his own pieces, from Lester Bowie's reggae-tinged "Ja" to Joseph Jarman's long "Dreaming Of The Master". Besides the horns, the group uses a wide range of percussion. Yes. It is the 1979 German ECM first pressing with catalogue number ECM 1126; the insert is included.

Is Nice Guys a good entry point to the Art Ensemble Of Chicago?
Many listeners think so: the album combines free collective improvisation with more accessible moments such as the reggae rhythm of "Ja", and it is very clearly recorded.

What does Media NM- / Cover VG+ mean?
NM- (Near Mint minus) for the record means close to new with at most minimal signs of use. VG+ (Very Good Plus) for the sleeve means light wear. All grades are explained on our Vinyl Grading page.

Do you have more Art Ensemble Of Chicago records?
