Released in 1981 on Telefunken, “Fred Vom Jupiter” is one of the most beloved and iconic singles of the Neue Deutsche Welle (NDW) movement. Written and produced by Alfred Hilsberg and performed by Andreas Dorau with Die Marinas, the track’s playful, deadpan charm and minimalist synth-pop sound made it an instant cult classic — and a defining moment in German pop history. A must-have for any collector of NDW and early European synth-pop.
