Description

The Miles Davis Quintet – Steamin' (full title “Steamin' With The Miles Davis Quintet”) is the last of the four albums Prestige released from the quintet sessions with John Coltrane; the others are Cookin', Relaxin' and Workin'. Five tracks were recorded on May 11, 1956 and “Well, You Needn't” on October 26, 1956, engineered by Rudy Van Gelder at his Hackensack studio and produced by Bob Weinstock. Prestige only released the album in 1961 (cat. no. PRLP 7200), when Davis had long since signed with Columbia. This copy is the 1968 US reissue numbered PRST 7580, electronically remastered for stereo.

FAQ

Is this the original pressing?
No. The album was first released in mono in 1961 as Prestige PRLP 7200. This copy is the 1968 US reissue numbered PRST 7580, electronically remastered for stereo according to the sleeve.

What does cut-out mean?
A cut-out is a record that was taken out of regular stock as remainder and marked with a small hole, cut or clipped corner in the sleeve. This copy has a small hole in the sleeve; the record itself is not affected.

What does Media NM- / Cover VG+ mean?
NM- (Near Mint minus) for the record means close to new with at most minimal signs of use. VG+ (Very Good Plus) for the sleeve means light wear. All grades are explained on our Vinyl Grading page.

Do you have more Miles Davis records?
Yes, for example Miles Davis – Steamin' (German Bellaphon edition), Miles Davis – Walkin', Miles Davis – Early Miles. More titles are in our Jazz collection.
