Released in 1988, this self-titled debut by Ralf Illenberger’s Circle showcases the German guitarist and composer at the forefront of the European jazz-rock and electronic jazz fusion scene. Illenberger’s fluid, melodic guitar work is complemented by sophisticated arrangements that blend jazz improvisation with electronic textures — a refined and atmospheric record typical of the best late-80s European jazz production. This German original Club Edition on Biber Records is a rare find for collectors of jazz-rock and contemporary jazz.
