Description

Voice Of Progress – Mini Bus Driver is the album by Jamaican vocal group Voice Of Progress, led by singer Junior Reid, released in 1982 on the UK label Negus Roots (cat. no. NERLP 003). Junior Reid wrote all the songs and sings here with harmony singers Sammy Tracy and Terry McDonald; Reid later became lead singer of Black Uhuru. Sly Dunbar and Robbie Shakespeare play the rhythms and Robert “Flako” Palmer produced. The Gladiators back the group on “Rich Man”. This copy is a 1982 UK original pressing. The product title gives “Mini Bus Driver” as the artist; the correct artist is Voice Of Progress.

FAQ

Is this the original pressing?
Yes. The album was released in the UK in 1982 on Negus Roots with catalogue number NERLP 003 and eight tracks. Later reissues, such as the 2012 one, add the track “If I”.

Who is the singer?
Junior Reid, who wrote and sang every song on the album. A few years later he took over lead vocals in Black Uhuru and then continued as a solo artist.

What does Media NM- / Cover VG mean?
NM- (Near Mint minus) means the record is close to new with at most minimal signs of play. VG (Very Good) means the sleeve shows clear wear, here writing on the sleeve. All grades are explained on our Vinyl Grading page.

Do you have more Voice Of Progress records?
This is currently our only Voice Of Progress LP. More roots reggae titles are in our Reggae, Ska & Dub collection.
