Released in 1980 on A&M Records, X∞Multiplies is a playful and provocative compilation from Yellow Magic Orchestra — Haruomi Hosono, Yukihiro Takahashi, and Ryuichi Sakamoto — capturing the trio at their most experimental and irreverent. Blending electronic pop, parody, and avant-garde sensibility, the album features reworked versions of YMO classics alongside new material, all wrapped in the band’s signature futuristic aesthetic. A fascinating document of one of electronic music’s most influential acts. Highlights include Tighten Up and Rap Phenomena.
