Description

Chick Corea – Chick Corea is a double LP compilation from the 1975 Blue Note Re-Issue Series (cat. no. BST 84 503/04 XC, in the US BN-LA395-H2). It brings together recordings from three early sessions by the pianist: the 1968 trio with Miroslav Vitous and Roy Haynes (Now He Sings, Now He Sobs), the 1969 septet session with Woody Shaw, Hubert Laws and Bennie Maupin (Is), and the 1970 trio with Dave Holland and Barry Altschul (The Song Of Singing). The record traces Corea's path from the acoustic trio towards freer, open forms shortly before Circle and Return To Forever. This copy is the 1975 German edition in a gatefold sleeve.

FAQ

Is this an original pressing?
It is the 1975 German first edition of this compilation from the Blue Note Re-Issue Series. The tracks themselves had previously appeared on three separate albums.

Which albums do the recordings come from?
From the sessions for Now He Sings, Now He Sobs, Is and The Song Of Singing, recorded in 1968, 1969 and 1970. All of side D is taken up by the almost half-hour title track of Is.

What does Media VG+ / NM- and Cover VG+ (woc) mean?
LP 1 is VG+ (light signs of play), LP 2 is NM- (close to new). The sleeve is VG+ with writing on the back (woc = writing on cover). All grades are explained on our Vinyl Grading page.

Do you have more Chick Corea records?
Yes, for example Chick Corea – Return To Forever, My Spanish Heart and Gary Burton / Chick Corea – Crystal Silence. More titles are in our Jazz collection.
