"Eisbær" is the defining anthem of the Swiss Neue Deutsche Welle movement, released in 1981 by Zurich-based band Grauzone. With its hypnotic synth bassline, deadpan vocals and the unforgettable refrain “Ich möchte ein Eisbær sein”, the track became a cult classic across German-speaking Europe and beyond. This original German pressing on Welt-Rekord/EMI Electrola is one of the most sought-after NDW singles for collectors of post-punk and early electronic music.
