Description
Jazzorchester der DDR – Jazzorchester Der DDR is a live double album released in 1989 in the AMIGA JAZZ series (8 56 455/456). It documents two concerts by the East German Jazz Orchestra in different line-ups: sides A and B, with two long compositions by trombonist Conrad Bauer, were recorded on 3 June 1988 at the Jazzbühne Berlin in the Friedrichstadtpalast. Sides C and D, led by saxophonist Manfred Hering, were recorded on 4 December 1988 at "Jazz in der Kammer Nr. 157" in the Haus der Jungen Talente in Berlin. The band features leading figures of the GDR scene such as Günter Sommer, Helmut "Joe" Sachse, Dietmar Diesner and Johannes Bauer. It was recorded by Rundfunk der DDR, with liner notes by Bert Noglik. This copy is the GDR original edition in a gatefold sleeve.

FAQ
Is this the original pressing?
Yes. This is the 1989 first edition on AMIGA, the label of VEB Deutsche Schallplatten Berlin, as a double LP in a gatefold sleeve.
Why are there two different line-ups?
The album combines two concerts from 1988. In June Conrad Bauer led the orchestra in his own pieces; in December Manfred Hering led a partly different line-up, including violin, cello and percussion.
What does Media NM- / Cover VG+ mean?
NM- (Near Mint minus) means the records are close to new. VG+ (Very Good Plus) means the sleeve shows light wear. All grades are explained on our Vinyl Grading page.
Do you have more records from the East German jazz scene?
At the moment this is our only AMIGA jazz record. More titles are in our Jazz collection.
