Description

Morris Nanton – Something We've Got is a piano trio album by US pianist Morris Nanton, first released by Prestige in 1965 (PR/PRST 7409). It was recorded on May 13 and June 16, 1965 at Van Gelder Studio in Englewood Cliffs, produced by Cal Lampley with Rudy Van Gelder as engineer. With Norman Edge on bass and Al Beldini on drums, Nanton plays standards such as Mood Indigo, Gershwin's My Man's Gone Now and The Masquerade Is Over in a bluesy, grooving soul jazz style. This copy is the 1967 German stereo licence pressing on SABA.

FAQ

Is this the original pressing?
No, the first edition came out on Prestige in the US in 1965. Per our listing this is the 1967 German stereo licence edition on SABA (PRST 7409).

What does SABA have to do with Prestige?
The Black Forest label SABA (later MPS) issued Prestige titles under licence in Germany during the 60s. The recordings themselves come from Van Gelder Studio in the US.

What does Media VG+ / Cover VG+ mean?
VG+ (Very Good Plus) means record and sleeve show only light wear; there is a tiny sticker on the label. All grades are explained on our Vinyl Grading page.

Do you have more Morris Nanton records?
Not at the moment. More piano trios and soul jazz titles are in our Jazz collection and under Soul & Funk.
