Description
Musical Youth – Pass The Dutchie is the best-known hit by Birmingham reggae band Musical Youth, released in September 1982 on MCA Records. The song combines the Mighty Diamonds’ “Pass The Kouchie” with U Brown’s “Gimme The Music”, swapping the herb for a cooking pot (“dutchie”). It went to number one in the UK and reached No. 10 on the US Billboard Hot 100 in early 1983. It was produced by Peter Collins. This copy is the 1982 European 12" edition (MCA 600 684).

FAQ
Is this the original pressing?
It is the 1982 European original on MCA Records with catalogue number 600 684. The very first edition was released in the UK the same year.
What is a “dutchie”?
In Jamaica a “dutchie” is a heavy cooking pot. The band used it for a family-friendly version of the Mighty Diamonds’ song “Pass The Kouchie”, which is about a cannabis pipe.
What does Media NM- / Cover VG mean?
Media NM- means: close to new with at most minimal signs of play. Cover VG means: clear signs of wear but complete and in decent shape, here edge and shelf wear. All grades are explained on our Vinyl Grading page.
Do you have more Musical Youth records?
