Description

Ronald Shannon Jackson And The Decoding Society – Mandance is an album by Texan drummer Ronald Shannon Jackson, who had previously played with Ornette Coleman, Cecil Taylor and Albert Ayler. It was recorded live in the studio in June 1982 and mixed at Electric Lady Studios in New York, produced by David Breskin and Jackson himself. It was released in 1982 on Antilles (cat. no. AN 1008). Jackson's Decoding Society, with a young Vernon Reid on guitar, banjo and guitar synthesizer, two electric bassists and horns, combines free improvisation with funk and rock rhythms. The sleeve was designed by Eiko Ishioka. This copy is the 1982 UK original pressing with original inner sleeve.

Who is Vernon Reid?
The guitarist played in Jackson's Decoding Society in the early 1980s before founding the rock band Living Colour in 1984. On Mandance he plays steel guitar, banjo and guitar synthesizer as well as electric guitar.

What does Media NM- / Cover VG+ mean?
NM- (Near Mint minus) means the record is close to new with at most minimal signs of play. VG+ (Very Good Plus) for the sleeve means light wear. All grades are explained on our Vinyl Grading page.
