FAQ

Where does house music come from?
House emerged in Chicago in the early 80s, named after the club The Warehouse, where DJ Frankie Knuckles played. DJs and producers combined disco with drum machines such as the Roland TR-808 and TR-909 – leading to styles like acid house, deep house and garage house.

What is the difference between acid house and garage house?
Acid house is driven by the squelchy, distorted bass of the Roland TB-303. Garage house, named after the New York club Paradise Garage, is soulful and vocal-led, often with gospel influences.

How do you grade the condition?
Every used record is checked by hand and graded to the Goldmine standard, with vinyl (media) and sleeve (cover) graded separately. All grades are explained on our Vinyl Grading page.

Are the images photos of the actual record?
Yes. We scan every record ourselves – used and new. For used records you get exactly the copy shown.
