Description

Bennie Wallace – Live At The Public Theater is a live album by tenor saxophonist Bennie Wallace on Enja (cat. no. enja 3045). It was recorded on May 26, 1978 at the Public Theater in New York, produced by Horst Weber and Matthias Winckelmann, with Taylor Storer as recording engineer. FAQ

Is this the original pressing?
Yes. This is the German first issue on Enja, catalogue number 3045, from 1978. In the US the album came out at the same time on a different label.

What does Media NM- / Cover VG+ mean?
NM- (Near Mint minus) means the record is close to new with at most minimal signs of play. VG+ (Very Good Plus) means the sleeve shows light wear. All grades are explained on our Vinyl Grading page.

What is special about the line-up?
Wallace plays in a trio without piano or guitar. Bass and drums carry the accompaniment on their own, which leaves the saxophone a lot of harmonic freedom.

Do you have more Bennie Wallace records?
This is currently our only Bennie Wallace record. You will find more saxophone recordings in our Jazz collection, for example by Joe Henderson.
