Description

Rare Silk – American Eyes is the second studio album by the vocal jazz group Rare Silk from Boulder, Colorado, released in 1985 on Palo Alto Records (cat. no. PA 8086). The group was founded in the late 1970s by sisters Gaile and MaryLynn Gillaspie. Like their debut New Weave (1983), American Eyes was nominated for a Grammy for Best Jazz Vocal Performance, Duo or Group. Alongside original songs the group sings standards such as Watch What Happens and 'Round Midnight as well as Jimi Hendrix's Up From The Skies; the track Storm later became a sought-after rarity and was reissued. This copy is a 1985 German pressing with lyric insert.

FAQ

Is American Eyes Rare Silk's debut album?
No. Their first studio album was New Weave from 1983. American Eyes followed in 1985 and, like it, received a Grammy nomination.

What comes with the record?
An insert with the lyrics, as included with the original edition.

What does Media NM- / Cover VG mean?
NM- (Near Mint minus) means the record is close to new with at most minimal signs of use. VG (Very Good) for the sleeve means clear signs of wear, here a bent corner. All grades are explained on our Vinyl Grading page.

Do you have more Rare Silk records?
Not at the moment. More vocal jazz and jazz records are in our Jazz collection.
