Description

The Nu Band – The Final Concert is a live album by the New York free jazz quartet The Nu Band on the Lithuanian label NoBusiness Records (cat. no. NBLP 99), released in 2016 in an edition of 300 copies. It was recorded on March 17, 2012 at the "Jazz im Sägewerk" festival in Bad Hofgastein, Austria – the band's last concert with trumpeter Roy Campbell, who died in 2014. Three pieces open with written themes as springboards for long improvisations, while "Free Piece" is a collective improvisation. This copy is the 2016 Lithuanian original pressing.

FAQ

Is this the original pressing?
Yes. This is the only vinyl edition, released in 2016 on NoBusiness Records and limited to 300 copies; the LP is sold out at the label.

Why "The Final Concert"?
It is the band's last performance with Roy Campbell. "Lament For Billy Bang" is Campbell's tribute to violinist Billy Bang, who died in 2011.

What does Media NM- / Cover NM- mean?
NM- (Near Mint minus) means both record and sleeve are close to new with at most minimal signs of use. All grades are explained on our Vinyl Grading page.

Do you have more Nu Band records?
This is currently our only Nu Band record. More free jazz such as James Blood Ulmer – Free Lancing is in our Jazz collection.
