Description

Bobby Timmons Trio – From The Bottom is an album by pianist Bobby Timmons with Sam Jones (bass) and Jimmy Cobb (drums), recorded in New York in 1964 and produced by Orrin Keepnews. After Riverside collapsed in 1964 the tape was shelved, and Keepnews only completed the album in 1970. Next to Timmons' title track and an organ version of his hit “Moanin'” there are bossa nova tunes and standards, with Timmons also playing vibes on two tracks. This copy is the original 1970 US edition on Riverside (RS 3053), stereo.

FAQ

Is this the original pressing?
Yes. From The Bottom was recorded in 1964 but first released in 1970. This US edition on Riverside RS 3053 is the first release.

Why was it only released in 1970?
Riverside went bankrupt in 1964 and the tapes were shelved. According to Orrin Keepnews' liner notes, he later rediscovered the session and completed the album in 1970.

What does Media NM- / Cover VG mean?
NM- (Near Mint minus) means close to new with at most minimal signs of use. VG (Very Good) means clearly visible wear, but the record or sleeve is complete and in decent shape. All grades are explained on our Vinyl Grading page.

Do you have more Bobby Timmons records?
Yes, for example The Bobby Timmons Trio – In Person. More titles are in our Jazz collection.
