Description

Dusko Goykovich – Swinging Macedonia is an album by Yugoslav jazz trumpeter Dusko Goykovich (Duško Gojković), issued in Philips' twen series (cat. no. 843 942 PY, twen 58). It was recorded on August 30 and 31, 1966 in Cologne, produced by Eckart Rahn, and released in 1967. Goykovich combines melodies and rhythms from Balkan folk music with hard bop and modal jazz, played by a sextet featuring Nathan Davis and Mal Waldron. This copy is a 1967 German pressing.

FAQ

Is this the original pressing?
Yes. This is the 1967 German Philips edition in the twen series (number 58) with catalogue number 843 942 PY. Later reissues appeared on other labels.

What is the twen series?
twen was a record series that the German magazine twen issued together with Philips between 1961 and 1968: around 70 LPs of jazz, classical, radio plays, world music and pop. Swinging Macedonia carries series number 58.

What does Media "very close to NM-" / Cover VG+ mean?
The record itself is hard to tell apart from NM- (Near Mint minus, close to new); the only flaw is a tiny sticker on the label. VG+ (Very Good Plus) means the sleeve shows light wear. All grades are explained on our Vinyl Grading page.

Do you have more Dusko Goykovich records?
Yes, for example Dusko Goykovich International Quintet – As Simple As It Is. More titles are in our Jazz collection.
