One of the very first releases on the legendary Mute Records label, Memphis Tennessee by Silicon Teens — the brainchild of Daniel Miller — is a pioneering synth-pop cover of the Chuck Berry classic, stripped down to pure electronic minimalism. Released in August 1979 as MUTE 003, this is an extraordinarily early and historically significant piece of UK electronic music, predating the synth-pop explosion by years.
