"Fourth" (1971) marks Soft Machine's pivotal turn to pure jazz-rock - the first album without any vocals, featuring extended instrumental suites driven by Robert Wyatt's drumming, Mike Ratledge's organ, and Hugh Hopper's bass. A landmark record of the Canterbury scene and British jazz-rock fusion at its most adventurous. This Spanish Original on CBS is a rare and desirable pressing.
