Originally released in 1969 on Liberty Records, Phallus Dei is the debut studio album of Amon Düül II — the legendary Munich collective that helped define the Krautrock movement. A sprawling, psychedelic odyssey, the album is anchored by its epic 20-minute title track, a hypnotic blend of free-form improvisation, Eastern-influenced drones, and proto-metal riffing. This 1972 UK Sunset Records reissue made the album accessible to a wider audience and remains a sought-after pressing among Krautrock and psychedelic rock collectors.
