Description

The MPS Rhythm Combination & Brass Leader: Peter Herbolzheimer – My Kind Of Sunshine is a double album by Peter Herbolzheimer's big band on MPS Records (cat. no. 33 21331-5), released in 1972. It was recorded in two sessions at the Domicile jazz club in Munich in December 1970 and December 1971, produced by Ernst Knauff and engineered by Willi Schmidt. The band plays soul jazz and Latin jazz with soloists such as Art Farmer, Herb Geller, Dusko Goykovich, Palle Mikkelborg and Jiggs Whigham; besides Herbolzheimer's own pieces the set includes Ray Charles' What'd I Say, Horace Silver's Señor Blues and the traditional Wade In The Water. This copy is a German original pressing in a gatefold sleeve.

FAQ

Is this the original pressing?
Yes. This is the 1972 German first edition on MPS Records (33 21331-5) in a gatefold sleeve. Reissues followed in 1976 in Germany and Spain, and in the US it appeared as a single LP titled Power Play.

Where was the album recorded?
In two sessions at the Domicile jazz club in Munich, in December 1970 and December 1971. That is why the line-up partly changes from track to track.

What does Media VG+ / Cover VG+ mean?
VG+ (Very Good Plus) for the record means light signs of use that hardly affect playback. For the sleeve, VG+ means light wear. All grades are explained on our Vinyl Grading page.

Do you have more Peter Herbolzheimer records?
Yes, for example Wide Open (MPS, 1973) or The Catfish. More titles are in our Jazz collection.
