Description

Peter Herbolzheimer Rhythm Combination & Brass – The Catfish is a live album by Peter Herbolzheimer's big band on Polydor (cat. no. 2371 564). It was recorded at the Onkel Pö jazz club in Hamburg and first released in 1975 as Live im Onkel Pö; the same year it was reissued with the same catalogue number, a new title and new artwork as The Catfish. Herbolzheimer produced it himself, and the music is grooving big band jazz-funk with soloists such as Ferdinand Povel, Palle Mikkelborg, Benny Bailey, Jiggs Whigham and Dieter Reith. This copy is the 1975 German edition titled The Catfish.

FAQ

What is the difference to "Live im Onkel Pö"?
Musically there is none. The record first appeared in 1975 as Live im Onkel Pö and was then reissued with the same catalogue number 2371 564 but a new title and new sleeve as The Catfish.

Is this a live album?
Yes. It was recorded at Onkel Pö in Hamburg, one of the best-known German jazz and music clubs of the 1970s. The venue is not named on the sleeve.

What does Media NM- / Cover VG+ mean?
NM- (Near Mint minus) for the record means close to new with at most minimal signs of use. VG+ (Very Good Plus) for the sleeve means light wear. All grades are explained on our Vinyl Grading page.

Do you have more Peter Herbolzheimer records?
Yes, for example Wide Open (MPS, 1973), the double album My Kind Of Sunshine or the GDR edition Live. More titles are in our Jazz collection.
