Description

Thelonious Monk With John Coltrane – Thelonious Monk With John Coltrane collects recordings Monk and Coltrane made together in 1957, when Coltrane spent several months in Monk's quartet. Produced by Orrin Keepnews, the album was first released in 1961 on Jazzland. Three tracks come from a quartet session with Wilbur Ware and Shadow Wilson, two more from the "Monk's Music" session with Coleman Hawkins and Art Blakey; "Functional" is a Monk solo piece. This copy is the 1982 US reissue in the Original Jazz Classics series (OJC-039).
