Description

Mel Brown – Mel Brown's Fifth is guitarist Mel Brown's fifth album for Impulse! (cat. no. AS-9209), released in 1971. It was recorded on October 21 and 23, 1970 at United Recording Studios and ABC Recording Studios in Los Angeles and produced by Ed Michel. Brown, later best known as Bobby Bland's long-time guitarist, mixes blues, soul jazz and funk with organ and horns; besides his own pieces he sings the classic "Drifting Blues". Side one ends with a locked groove featuring a cuckoo clock. This copy is the 1971 US original pressing in a gatefold sleeve.
