Description

Grover Washington, Jr. – All The King's Horses is the saxophonist's second album, released in 1972 on Creed Taylor's Kudu label. It was recorded in May and June 1972 at Van Gelder Studio in Englewood Cliffs, produced by Creed Taylor, with arrangements and conducting by Bob James. Washington plays alto and tenor saxophone in front of a large orchestra with strings and horns, backed by session players such as Eric Gale, Richard Tee, Ron Carter, Bernard Purdie and Billy Cobham. The programme includes soul material like Aretha Franklin's title song and Bill Withers' "Lean On Me", as well as "Body And Soul" and a piece after Henry Purcell. This copy is the 1985 German Motown reissue.
