Strange Meeting is the debut album by the jazz-fusion supergroup Power Tools, featuring guitarist Bill Frisell, bassist Melvin Gibbs, and drummer Ronald Shannon Jackson. Released in 1987 on Antilles New Directions, the record is a raw, exploratory collision of free jazz, blues, and rock that showcases each musician's improvisational brilliance. Standout tracks include "Strange Meeting" and "Lonely Woman," a haunting reimagining of the Ornette Coleman classic.
