Description
Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers – Reflections Of Buhainia is a hard bop session by the Jazz Messengers, recorded on 8 and 9 March 1957 at Carl Fischer Concert Hall in New York. The material first appeared on Elektra in 1957 as "A Midnight Session With The Jazz Messengers"; Savoy later acquired the tapes and reissued them under other titles. Blakey's line-up with Bill Hardman and Jackie McLean plays tunes by Gigi Gryce, Ray Draper and Mal Waldron. The title refers to Blakey's Muslim name Abdullah Ibn Buhaina; this edition spells it "Buhainia". This copy is a French reissue on BYG Records from the "Jazz Masters Serie" (cat. no. BYG 529149).
