Description
Art Blakey And The Jazz Messengers – Moanin' is one of the best-known hard bop albums on Blue Note. It was recorded on October 30, 1958 at the Van Gelder Studio in Hackensack, New Jersey, produced by Alfred Lion with Rudy Van Gelder as engineer. The original edition was simply titled "Art Blakey And The Jazz Messengers" (BLP 4003, stereo BST 84003); release dates are given as either late 1958 or early 1959. The title track by pianist Bobby Timmons became a jazz standard, and four other pieces were written wholly or partly by saxophonist Benny Golson. This copy is a German reissue (Blue Note BST 84003).
