Description

Dizzy Gillespie With Sonny Rollins And Sonny Stitt – Duets is a bebop album by trumpeter Dizzy Gillespie, recorded on December 11, 1957 at Nola Studios in New York under Norman Granz and released by Verve in March 1958 (MGV 8260). On side A Gillespie meets Sonny Rollins on tenor saxophone, on side B Sonny Stitt; the rhythm section of Ray Bryant, Tommy Bryant and Charlie Persip plays throughout. All four pieces are Gillespie's and leave the soloists plenty of room. The same musicians also recorded the album Sonny Side Up in December 1957. This copy is a 1974 Japanese Verve reissue (MV 2522) without OBI.
