Description

Herbie Hancock – Treasure Chest is a double LP compilation drawn from Herbie Hancock's three albums for Warner Bros.: Fat Albert Rotunda (1969), Mwandishi (1971) and Crossings (1972). It came out in 1974, when Hancock was already having success at Columbia with the Headhunters. The first record has the funky tracks from the Fat Albert TV music; the second half features the open, electronically extended playing of the Mwandishi band with Bennie Maupin, Eddie Henderson, Julian Priester, Buster Williams, Billy Hart and Patrick Gleeson on Moog. It closes with the 24-minute "Sleeping Giant" across a full side. This copy is the 1974 German original edition (cat. no. WB 66 034).
