Description

Peter Herbolzheimer Rhythm Combination & Brass – The Catfish is a live album by the big band of trombonist and arranger Peter Herbolzheimer, recorded at the Onkel Pö jazz club in Hamburg. It came out on Polydor in 1975 (cat. no. 2371 564), first titled Live im Onkel Pö, and was then reissued with a new title and artwork as The Catfish. The band combines big-band horn sections with Fender Rhodes, ARP synthesizer and funk grooves; the line-up includes Palle Mikkelborg, Benny Bailey, Ferdinand Povel, Jiggs Whigham and Sabu Martinez. This copy is the 1975 German Polydor edition.

FAQ

Is The Catfish the same album as Live im Onkel Pö?
Yes. Both carry catalogue number Polydor 2371 564 and contain the same six tracks. The Catfish is the reissue with a different title and cover design.

Where was the album recorded?
Live at Onkel Pös Carnegie Hall, a jazz club in Hamburg's Eppendorf district that was an important stage for jazz and rock in the 1970s.

What does Media VG+ / Cover VG mean?
VG+ (Very Good Plus) means the record shows light signs of play but plays cleanly. VG (Very Good) for the sleeve means more noticeable wear, here shelf wear. All grades are explained on our Vinyl Grading page.

Do you have more Peter Herbolzheimer records?
Yes, for example another copy of The Catfish, Wide Open and My Kind Of Sunshine. More titles are in our Jazz collection.
