FAQ

Is this the original pressing?
The original was released in the US by Impulse! in 1964. This copy is a German mono pressing from the same year, with the gatefold sleeve typical of Impulse!.

Why do some titles sound familiar?
Mingus re-recorded several of his earlier compositions here. Better Get Hit In Yo' Soul is a version of Better Git It In Your Soul, and Theme For Lester Young a version of Goodbye Pork Pie Hat, both originally on Mingus Ah Um (1959).

What does Media NM- / Cover VG+ mean?
NM- (Near Mint minus) means the record is close to new; there is a tiny sticker on the label. VG+ (Very Good Plus) means the sleeve shows light wear. All grades are explained on our Vinyl Grading page.

Do you have more Charles Mingus records?
Yes, for example Charles Mingus – Changes One & Two or Charles Mingus – Town Hall Concert. More titles are in our Jazz collection.
